Object First today released findings from its second annual Under Pressure: Mental Health Challenges in IT & Security Roles survey, which reveals that 91% are uncomfortably stressed at work over IT security risks, an increase over 84% in 2025. The 1,100 IT and security professionals surveyed across the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany report mounting workplace pressure as threats become more sophisticated and recovery expectations continue to rise.

In the UK, 89% of IT and security professionals said they feel uncomfortably stressed at work over IT security risks. The findings are based on 300 UK respondents and highlight the pressure created by cyber threats, workload, recovery expectations and constrained resources.

Object First has published a commissioned study conducted by analyst firm Omdia that found 83% of organizations have fallen victim to a successful ransomware attack in the last 24 months. The results also show that it’s harder to recover from attacks: only 39% of organizations recovered at least 75% of their data after an attack, down from the 57% in 2024. The survey reinforces that outages from ransomware are no longer a matter of “if”, but “when”, and that organizations are increasingly prioritizing provable recovery from absolutely immutable backup storage as the ultimate defense.
