Cyberattacks and Ransomware Target Backup Data in 93% of Attacks

Backup data is often the primary target of ransomware and data exfiltration attacks, but existing Zero Trust frameworks do not include the security of data backup and recovery systems.

Extending CISA Zero Trust Maturity Model (ZTMM) to Data Backup and Recovery

Veeam collaborated with Zero Trust expert Jason Garbis of Numberline Security to introduce Zero Trust Data Resilience (ZTDR) as an extension to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Zero Trust Maturity Model. ZTDR addresses the security of backup and recovery infrastructure, including backup repositories, which is critical to successful recovery.

The “Zero Trust and Enterprise Data Backup” white paper represents Object First’s perspective on the Zero Trust research and ZTDR model.
